Mezuzah Protection Initiative
On the Hebrew calendar we currently find ourselves in the month of Iyar. The month of Iyar carries special healing powers. The actual name of the month is an acronym for “Ani Hashem Rofecha – I am G-d your healer”. This is a reference to the verse in Exodus, 15 where G-d promises to heal the Israelites. Indeed, it was during the month of Iyar that the Manna began to fall from heaven and supply the Israelites with food during their sojourn in the desert. According to the Midrash, the Manna among other things, had special healing powers and the Israelites were cured from any illness upon eating the Manna.
As we once again revisit the month of Iyar, we can tap into its powers of healing. Let us hope that these spiritual powers of healing bring health and protection to all who are affected by covid-19.
As with all things in life, we must make a vessel and a conduit through which the spiritual blessing can materialize.
An appropriate action through which to activate the potential of Iyar’s healing, I think is the Mitzvah of Mezuzah. A Mezuzah scroll on one’s doorpost serves as a spiritual protection to the home and its residents both when they are at home and elsewhere.
As you may know, in addition to the Shema prayer which is written on the parchment of a Mezuzah scroll, it also contains Kabbalistic wording and the letters Shin, Dalet and Yud. The Kabbalistic wording represents various codes that refer to the creative powers of G-d’s name. Shin, Dalet and Yud spell one of G-d’s names which can also stand for “Shomer Daltot Yisrael – guardian of the doorways of Israel”. As you can see, the Mezuzah scroll is a powerful Mitzvah that brings divine protection to the house and its occupants.
As we all seek divine protection and blessings during these difficult times, I encourage everyone to affix a Mezuzah scroll to all doorposts of one’s home (besides for bathrooms). I am happy to assist you with this great Miztvah. You can order a Mezuzah through the link below and we will help you affix them either in person or through a video call.
If your house already has Mezuzas, I recommend having them inspected by a scribe which we can assist you with as well.
